On August 6th, a town meeting that was being conducted over Zoom and simulcast on SCM’s linear and YouTube Channels was disrupted by an unauthorized user (it was hacked). Inappropriate content was substituted in the livestream in place of the meeting. Consequently, YouTube has suspended the channel and is investigating the incident.

During this suspension period, which could last several weeks, videos and programming will not be accessible through SCM’s YouTube channel. SCM is currently working with the Town of Simsbury to prevent further incidents, and we will advise you once our YouTube channel is accessible again. The Public (5/1084), Government (96/1090), and Education (95/1070) channels on Comcast are not affected, and remain active.

As an alternative, an archive of much of our content is currently available at archive.org. All LIVE content that would usually be broadcast on YouTube, including government meetings, will be broadcast via Facebook Live. This plan will remain in place until the situation is resolved.

Our facilities are available at no cost to trained volunteers who wish to create community programming. We are funded through cable television subscriber fees and tax-deductible contributions from individuals, organizations, and local businesses.
